Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Kitchen Lead to support daily food service operations at our Early Learning Center. This position is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen, managing food supplies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and CACFP requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Lead: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, pantry organization, ordering, picking up groceries and food supplies, receiving, storage, and maintaining accurate records.
• Care: Prepare and serve nutritious meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen, equipment, and eating areas.
• Support: Follow YMCA, State of Indiana, and applicable accrediting agency standards while communicating effectively with staff and reporting safety concerns as needed.
• Develop: Support the growth and development of the ELC food service program while promoting the YMCA mission and core values.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
• Understanding of CACFP rules and regulations.
• Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• Excellent human relation skills and enthusiasm.
• Basic math skills and demonstrated recordkeeping proficiency.
• Proficient in computer usage and possess the ability to grow with computer technology.
• An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.
• Successfully complete within 60 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/O2 Certification, Bloodborne Pathogen training, Child Abuse Prevention training, and all other required training as specified by your supervisor.

Salary: Non-Exempt, Full Time, $14.00-$14.50

Hours Available: 7:30am-4:00pm
