Territory Manager- Specialty Products

Position Purpose:

The Territory Manager - Specialty Products at SRS Building Products is tasked with driving strategic sales growth and establishing robust stakeholder relationships across their assigned territory. This role is pivotal in conducting market research to identify emerging opportunities and threats, which are then translated into actionable sales strategies to optimize product prospects. By ensuring collaboration with internal teams and maintaining deep product knowledge, the successful candidate will uphold superior service standards, foster customer loyalty, and contribute to the sustained expansion of SRS Building Products' offerings in the specialty segment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Sales Execution: Formulate and execute detailed sales strategies to meet or surpass corporate objectives, identifying and capitalizing on emerging markets while staying informed of new products and competitive landscapes.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with key industry stakeholders, including architects, builders, contractors, and distributors, to enhance the market presence of SRS Building Products' Specialty Products.
  • Market Analysis and Insights: Conduct in-depth market research to pinpoint trends, opportunities, and potential threats, converting these insights into proactive sales strategies that drive growth.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously evaluate territory performance against predetermined sales targets and KPIs, initiating necessary adjustments to ensure the attainment of sales goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with internal departments such as marketing, supply chain, and customer service to facilitate seamless operations and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Product Expertise: Develop and sustain comprehensive knowledge of the company's specialty products, offering expert advice and insights to clients to foster sales growth and customer loyalty.
  • Reporting: Produce and present thorough sales reports and strategic insights to senior management, contributing to informed decision-making and fostering business expansion.
Direct Manager Direct Reports:

The Territory Manager - Specialty Products at SRS Building Products reports directly to the Regional Sales Director. This position does not have any direct reports. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve strategic sales goals and enhance product market penetration.

Travel Requirements:

This role necessitates frequent travel within the designated territory to engage with clients, stakeholders, and to conduct market research, ensuring consistent alignment with strategic sales and relationship management objectives."

Physical Requirements:

The role of Territory Manager - Specialty Products at SRS Building Products involves both office-based and field activities, necessitating a blend of traditional office work and periodic travel. Standard physical requirements for this position include the ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, engage in extensive telephone communication, and sit or stand for extended periods. The role may also require lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 20 pounds during travel or trade events. Furthermore, the ability to travel to meet with clients and stakeholders across the designated territory is essential. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated success in a sales management role within the building materials industry, with a strong preference for experience in specialty products.
  • Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, trends, and competitor activities within the building supply sector.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively, negotiate persuasively, and cultivate strong business relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Excellent analytical skills with the capability to evaluate market data, assess performance metrics, and derive actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Sales Acumen: Results-oriented mindset with proven capability in driving sales growth and achieving sales targets within a competitive market environment.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with an aptitude for making informed decisions swiftly to address challenges and seize opportunities.

  • Established network within the building materials industry, particularly within the specialty products sector.

  • Strong project management skills with a focus on strategic planning, execution, and results optimization.

  • Successful track record in facilitating product training and presentations to diverse audiences.

Minimum Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.

Preferred Education:

A Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline is highly desirable to complement the foundational requirement of a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Minimum Years Of Work Experience:

Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of experience in sales management within the building materials industry, specifically within the specialty products sector.

Certifications:

None required.
  • Certified Sales Professional (CSP) - Preferred
  • LEED Accredited Professional - Preferred
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) - Preferred
