Site Technician II

The Site Tech II is responsible for small projects, mowing, weedeating, seeding, planting, weed control, equipment maintenance,snow, and ice control, asphalt or concrete work, brick orstonework, demolition, grading and/or site cleanup tasks. As wellas, all the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds ofLiberty University. Operates lawn mowers, and other relatedequipment. Any other duties as assigned. Working independently andexercising good judgment and discretion. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES As Essential Personnel, you are expected to be available in theevent of school closings, delays, shutdowns, and any emergenciesincluding clean up required because of severe weather incidents.Grounds employees are essential to the overall success ofCommencement (May) and Orientation and Move-in (August) weekendevents and special events that are scheduled in facilitiesthroughout the year and must be available to work schedule andunscheduled hours as emergency needs arise. Performs snow removalactivities as assigned, such as shoveling, salting, etc. QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education andExperience This position requires a high school degree or GED. Minimum of 3+ years of related experience preferred, or anequivalent combination of education and experience. The successfulindividual will have a working knowledge of grounds maintenance,and equipment operations. Pressure washing, asphalt, concrete,construction, lawn care, landscape and/or hardscape experience ispreferred. Must be able to understand and follow instructions, and workunder limited Supervision. Must be able to work well with the public and co-workers andpresent a positive attitude. Clean and professionalappearance. Must be courteous, detailed oriented, self-motivated, diligent,trustworthy, possess strong organizational skills andwell-developed communication skills. Must be able to lift up to 75+ pounds and perform duties of theground’s maintenance and landscaping outdoors in typical VirginiaClimate. This position might require the use of and operation of aeriallifts or be willing and able obtain aerial lift certifications,operate, and work from various aerial lifts and heights. Have or be able to obtain a chemical spray certification.Desire to work with a team to accomplish goals. Urgency to grow andimprove. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University atthe expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to theUniversity upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first12 months after acquiring it. Problem Solving Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, andapply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine andcomplex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities Occasionally required to travel to local and off campuslocations. Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectivelycommunicate orally. Required to be able stand, walk, and climb stairs to movearound campus for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 75+ pounds and perform duties ofgrounds maintenance and landscaping outdoors in typical Virginiaclimate. Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, and flexible dailyhours as well as various evening hours. Ability to use radio and telephone to communicate and followwritten and verbal instructions. Must be able stand for longperiods. Must be able to perform physically demanding work in a varietyof physical positions, including sitting, bending, and standing,walking and driving. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform theessential functions of this position is an outdoor setting anddefined by the weather. Driving Requirements If the employee is required to travel in the performance of theduties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’spersonal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proofof a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU DrivingApproval, and liability insurance is required only when driving inthe performance of the employee’s position. Time Type Full time Location Onsite Pay Range Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications,experience, education, skills, and certifications, along withUniversity needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarksmay be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity toensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensationstructure.
