Job Title: RN Supervisor
Profession: Registered Nurse (RN)

Experience: Two (2) years of recent department-specific experience required.
License: Current Registered Nurse license (California).
Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Must-Have: Basic EKG/tele interpretation experience or completion of a Basic EKG class within six months of employment. Description:
This is a clinical supervisor position.
The candidate may be subject to patient assignments.
Education:
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing Program; BSN preferred.
Responsibilities:
Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
Encourage collaborative relationships with colleagues, community providers, patients, and family members.
Identify ways to improve customer service and feedback while reducing patient complaints.
Attend department meetings, Town Hall meetings, and staff recognition events as appropriate.
Actively participate in department, hospital, and facility committees.
Ensure timely compliance with job requirements.
Identify own educational needs and seek appropriate learning experiences.
Adhere to attendance requirements.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and clutter-free.
Notify management of any issues as appropriate.
Ensure the department has necessary equipment and supplies for quality service delivery.
Report unsafe situations or safety hazards immediately.
Label and remove malfunctioning equipment from service.
Participate in Emergency Preparedness Drills.
Demonstrate understanding of role in emergencies or disasters.
Communication/Working Relationships:
Interact with patients, families, guests, medical staff, and peers professionally and timely.
Follow the chain of command and escalate concerns appropriately.
Utilize effective communication skills to support the healthcare needs of patients.
Coordinate patient requirements with ancillary departments.
Answer and route incoming calls appropriately and take messages when possible.
Refrain from unprofessional discussions.
Respect patient privacy and confidentiality, following all regulations.
Position Specific Responsibilities:
Assist with planning and yearly needs assessment for the unit's budget.
Monitor patient care activities within budget.
Ensure staff breaks occur and communicate with management when there are roadblocks.
Assist staff in avoiding incremental overtime.
Demonstrate understanding of budget concepts, including premium labor monitoring.
Adjust staffing as census or patient acuity change in collaboration with management.
Identify opportunities to improve unit labor efficiency.
Cost Control:
Identify and take proactive stances on cost reduction opportunities regularly.
Participate in the identification of needed capital items and product evaluations.
Organizational Responsibility:
Work with medical staff and other departments to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Utilize chain of command for patient safety concerns requiring management or administration intervention.
Complete purposeful patient rounding to monitor safety concerns and enhance satisfaction.
Customer Service/Guest Relations:
Model coordination and integration of interdepartmental communication.
Demonstrate effective communication skills and handle complaints and grievances timely.
Participate in conflict resolution.
Quality:
Actively participate in performance improvement activities.
Participate in concurrent record reviews for completeness of nursing documentation.
Policy Development:
Develop and implement policies that guide service provision with management.
Provide input for policy development.
Regulatory Compliance:
Commit to following organizational policies and regulations.
Demonstrate professionalism to surveyors.
Assist in resolving issues identified through reviews.
Human Resources:
Participate in staff development and competency evaluation.
Develop employee action plans for behavior modification or skill improvement where appropriate.
Critical Thinking/Skills:

Ensure safe department operation between shifts.
Continuously strive to improve department services.
