Position Summary: 

Founded in 1997, Gresham Partners, LLC is a $13.8 billion Chicago-based investment and wealth management firm serving a select group of ultra-high net-worth families across the country. The firm is known for its independent thinking, investment approach and performance results. We are seeking an intrinsically motivated accountant who is financial and operations-minded team member for our Finance Team. The Controller role will be based in Chicago.

Responsibilities:

\n
• Maintain effective relationships with third party bookkeepers, tax accountants, banking relationships, auditor, and legal counsel.
\n
• Research accounting issues for GAAP and other compliance requirements.
\n
• Assist in processing payroll.
\n
• Review and approve expense reports and invoice payments, enforce segregation of duties, expense, and other internal controls.
\n
• Provide cash flow, profitability and other financial analyses and models.
\n
• Provide back-up and create budgets and forecasts.
\n
• Lead and manage outside bookkeeper.
\n
• Manage general ledger.
\n
• Provide monthly and year end variance analyses.
\n
• Manage outside auditors and provide reconciliations and support documentation. Draft audited financial statements.
\n
• Lead operational improvement projects.
\n
• Maintain and update expense policies and communicate with the Firm.
\n
• Create wire templates, process wires, and monitor cash flow.
\n
• Recommend changes and lead new software implementations and automation projects.
\n
• Provide ad-hoc reporting to co-workers and third parties as needed.
\n

Education, Experience and Skills:

\n
• Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in finance or accounting strongly preferred.
\n
• CPA desired.
\n
• 5 – 8 years prior work experience.
\n
• Microsoft CRM experience a plus.
\n
• Computer savvy, with demonstrated strength in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and modeling expertise.
\n
• Experience working at a financial firm is a plus.
\n
• Knowledge of capital transactions and capital controls is a plus.
\n
• Experience with tax/book differences.
\n
• Interest in capital markets investments and accounting pronouncements.
\n
• High energy level; motivated; self-starter; can work both independently and in a team environment.
\n
• Understanding of operational processes, transactional impacts, cash movement, accruals, and valuation methodologies.
\n
• Experienced in and enjoys operational process improvements.
\n
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and perform effectively under deadlines.
\n
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
\n
• Strong attention to detail; numbers/math oriented.
\n
