Job Title: Occupational Therapist Location: State-Wide - MUST BE A COLORADO RESIDENT FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student Services
Work Hours/Days: Full-Time or Part-Time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations will be aligned with FTE assignment in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines. Wage: $65,000-80,000/annually. Compensation will be prorated based on FTE assignment. Benefits: Benefit eligibility is based on FTE status. Employees working 30 hours or greater per week are eligible for full benefits including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid leave. Employees working less than 30 hours per week will get paid sick leave. We are a small non-profit organization based in Colorado, passionate about helping charter schools succeed. Job Function
The Occupational Therapist supports inclusive, data-driven student services by partnering with school leaders, Special Services Providers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to deliver high-quality and compliant occupational therapy services to qualifying students. This role strengthens MTSS/RTI frameworks, trauma-informed practices, SEL-aligned supports, and inclusive access to school environments, while ensuring culturally responsive and legally compliant sensory-motor, fine-motor, and functional participation assessments within special education systems. The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and intervention services to support the sensory-motor, functional, and participation needs of students with disabilities. Through collaborative problem-solving, targeted professional learning, and team-based planning, the Occupational Therapist helps educators and families implement effective sensory supports, fine-motor strategies, environmental modifications, assistive technology, and functional routines across school environments, including for students served through 504 plans, Gifted education, and Multi-Lingual Learner pathways. The Occupational Therapist is a key member of multidisciplinary evaluation and IEP teams, with opportunities for remote consultation and planning. Core Responsibilities

Assessment, Evaluation & Compliance
- Conduct school-based OT evaluations addressing fine-motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-regulation, motor planning, and functional school participation.
- Contribute diagnostic information to multidisciplinary evaluations aligned with IDEA and Colorado eligibility criteria.
- Develop IEP goals, service plans, progress-monitoring systems, and required documentation.
- Assess needs for adaptive equipment, assistive technology, sensory supports, environmental modifications, and accessibility accommodations.
- Provide direct and consultative OT services to support access to curriculum, functional independence, and participation in school routines.
- Implement evidence-based interventions for handwriting, fine-motor development, sensory regulation, motor planning, executive functioning, and self-help skills.
- Support students in navigating classroom routines, organization systems, transitions, cafeteria tasks, playground participation, and vocational/functional tasks.
- Reinforce routines, regulation strategies, and functional skills that promote participation across the school day.
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, SLPs, PTs, psychologists, nurses, and families to support functional participation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, eligibility determinations, and IEP development.
- Promote inclusive practices such as UDL, sensory-friendly environments, accessible classroom setups, and functional accommodations.
- Provide family-centered strategies to support self-help, sensory regulation, and functional skill development at home.
- Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to guide intervention planning and adjust supports.
- Support teams in interpreting functional, sensory-motor, and participation data to inform instructional and behavioral strategies.
- Maintain accurate service logs, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
- Provide training to staff on sensory regulation, fine-motor supports, adaptive equipment, positioning, and classroom accommodations .
- Offer consultation to ensure consistent implementation of OT strategies across environments.
- Provide family education on sensory needs, functional routines, and skill development .
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Valid Colorado OT license and/or CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) license in Occupational Therapy
- Training in sensory-motor development, fine-motor and visual-motor skills, functional participation, and school-based OT practices
- Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed practices, SEL, inclusive education, and culturally responsive service delivery
- Experience providing school-based OT services to students with disabilities across mild-moderate and significant needs
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (educators, SSPs, paras, families) to support student access and participation
- Experience with assistive technology, adaptive equipment, sensory supports, and environmental modifications
- Experience providing remote consultation or tele-OT preferred
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and school-based OT service delivery models
- Skill in functional, sensory-motor, fine-motor, and participation-based assessments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, and service providers to support student access and engagement
- Strong communication, cultural responsiveness, and documentation skills
- Ability to support adaptive equipment, accessibility planning, and environmental modifications that promote student independence and participation
- Work is performed in a classroom setting.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
