Description
The Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) provides peer-based recovery support services to individuals affected by substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions throughout the State of New Hampshire. Using lived experience and recovery-oriented practices, the CRSW supports individuals in achieving personal recovery goals, increasing self-sufficiency, and improving overall wellness and community engagement.
The CRSW works collaboratively with clinical providers, recovery centers, hospitals, community agencies, and other support systems to promote person-centered, trauma-informed care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide peer recovery support services to individuals seeking or maintaining recovery from substance use disorders.
- Utilize lived experience in recovery to inspire hope, encourage engagement, and model recovery-oriented behaviors.
- Assist individuals in developing and implementing individualized recovery wellness plans.
- Support clients in accessing treatment services, recovery programs, housing resources, employment services, transportation, healthcare, and other community supports throughout New Hampshire.
- Conduct outreach and engagement activities in community settings, treatment programs, hospitals, emergency departments, recovery centers, and other referral sources.
- Facilitate peer-led recovery groups, educational workshops, and wellness activities.
- Assist clients with navigating systems of care and overcoming barriers to treatment and recovery.
- Advocate for individuals’ rights, choices, and self-determination.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical standards established by the New Hampshire Board of Licensing for Alcohol and Other Drug Use Professionals.
- Complete documentation and maintain records in compliance with agency policy, HIPAA regulations, and state requirements.
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current New Hampshire Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) certification in good standing, or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of sustained recovery preferred.
- Knowledge of recovery principles, harm reduction, pathways to recovery, and local New Hampshire recovery resources.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Basic computer proficiency and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout assigned service areas in New Hampshire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in substance use disorder treatment, peer recovery support, behavioral health, or community outreach.
- Familiarity with New Hampshire Doorways, Recovery Friendly Workplace initiatives, and local recovery community organizations.
- Training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, or crisis intervention preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
