MRI Technologist

Job Description Responsible for creating cross‑sectional images of a patient’s body for diagnostic purposes, using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Responsibilities Position the patient on the examining table and place the specified coil (receiver) such as a head coil or knee coil near the area of interest, following protocols requested by the Radiologist. Demonstrate use of the microphone that allows the patient and technologist to communicate during the examination. Enter data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into the aperture of the magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first) into the computer. Key commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers into the computer. Observe the patient through the control room window and on the closed‑circuit TV screen to monitor patient safety and comfort. View images of the scanned areas on the video display screen to ensure image quality. Key in data on the camera keyboard to photograph images. Alert staff entering the magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around the magnet. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a Radiography Program or related field. State RT License / BLS.
