- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers at the counter and over the phone, delivering timely, accurate, and professional service
- Identify correct parts using electronic catalogs and business systems, ensuring accuracy, and minimizing errors or returns
- Provide pricing, availability, and sourcing options, including in-stock, inter-branch, and emergency orders
- Drive parts sales by proactively recommending related items, alternatives, and solutions to meet customer needs
- Process invoices and collect payment accurately and efficiently
- Manage returns, cores, and warranty claims in accordance with company and vendor requirements, ensuring proper documentation and recovery of credits
- Maintain organized and accurate inventory through proper binning, stocking, and housekeeping standards
- Support parts inventory control by identifying discrepancies, shortages, and slow-moving or obsolete parts
- Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready counter and retail display area
- Participate in ongoing training to build product knowledge and stay current on supplier offerings
- Support promotional efforts and customer outreach to drive parts sales and customer retention
- Represent the company in a professional and customer-focused manner at all times
- 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 to 3 years of customer-facing sales experience, preferably in a dealership or heavy-duty parts environment
- Experience with dealership management systems (Karmak, CDK, Procede)
- Strong working knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts and components
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Comprehension: Ability to understand complex problems, collaborate, and explore alternative solutions.
- Organization: Ability to organize and prioritize work schedule on short-term basis (more than 1 month).
- Reasoning & Decision Making: Ability to make decisions with moderate impact on immediate work unit.
- Communication: Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, communicating orally with others accurately, loudly, and quickly.
- Mathematics: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, record, balance, and check results for accuracy.
- Contribute to a work environment that is based on trust and respect.
- Have discussions on a regular basis with their manager to discuss opportunities to best achieve individual performance objectives and departmental goals.
- Suggest ways to improve the efficiency of conducting their job duties.
