Staff Accountant - Construction/Service Industry

Job Summary The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s financial operations by performing a variety of accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, month‑end close activities, and financial reporting. This role ensures accuracy and compliance in all financial records while assisting with audits, budgeting processes, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Review revenue and manage billing processing procedures on an ongoing basis and bring to attention any issues regarding accounting, business procedures or finances. Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance. Liaise with various departments to ensure accuracy and timely recording of financial information, resolve any issue where required. Oversee issuing of checks / payment of invoices. Maintain general ledgers and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements and financial reports. Offer insight and suggest ways to improve revenue growth. Establish, maintain and monitor revenue control risk, including an audit program to ensure revenue is generated according to contracted terms – maximizing revenue and minimizing loss. Along with VP of Finance, prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue reports, as well as documentation of financial arrangements and profitability. Train staff members in new revenue control policies and collaborate with other staff regarding revenue system evaluations and improvements. Qualifications 5–7 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, analytical roles, or audit functions. BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or related area. CPA designation is an asset but not required. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully manage relationships with clients, company executives, operational staff, sales staff, and co-workers. Strong analytical skills involving financial analysis, key trends analysis and business case analysis. Skilled at establishing and working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with multiple priorities. Experience with a fully integrated accounting system.
