Senior Mechanical EngineerOwn mechanical R&D for Fleetzero battery modules: From a clean-sheet concept through production-ready design.About The RoleYou will be the driving force behind the full mechanical development lifecycle of our battery module products. That means owning designs from initial concept and first-article prototypes, through development testing, design validation, and into high-volume manufacturing. You will work closely with electrical, manufacturing, and systems engineering counterparts to deliver robust, producible hardware on aggressive schedules. This is a hands-on role. You will be building and testing prototypes yourself, running experiments, and iterating quickly. If you are the type of engineer who is equally comfortable at a CAD workstation and a build bench, this role is for you. What You'll OwnMechanical design of battery module enclosures, thermal management systems, and structural assemblies from concept through production releasePrototype fabrication and first-article builds, you will get hands-on, not just hand off drawingsDevelopment testing: design validation, environmental, vibration, thermal, and ingress protection testingDFM/DFA collaboration with manufacturing engineering to ensure designs are producible and scalableFEA and CFD analysis to validate designs analytically before committing to hardwareManaging and releasing engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and BOMs in Solidworks PDMPathfinding new designs and materials, identifying better solutions before problems surface in productionWhat We're Looking ForB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering5+ years of experience in product development with demonstrated ownership of hardware from prototype to productionStrong fundamentals in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, and mechatronicsExpert-level Solidworks proficiency, including drawings with full GD&THands-on experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Solidworks Simulation, or similar) and CFD tools (Fluent, Star-CCM+, or similar)Ability to improvise and test solutions quickly, you prototype on your own, not just through vendorsExperience designing for high-volume manufacture: injection molding, sheet metal, castings, extrusions, weldmentsComfortable working in a small team where ambiguity is normal and self-direction is requiredBonus PointsExperience with battery systems, power electronics enclosures, or thermal management for high-energy-density productsBackground in marine, defense, automotive, or industrial equipment marketsFamiliarity with IP-rated enclosure design and sealing strategiesExperience with liquid cooling systems design and qualification
