Controller $100,000 -$125,000 (depending on experience) Greater Phoenix, AZ (hybrid schedule) Vaco has partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit seeking a Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will manage the month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and board-level financial reporting while ensuring compliance with grants, government reimbursements, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a Controller, strong leadership skills, and advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel. Nonprofit experience and a CPA are preferred. Perks and Opportunities: Flexible work environment Rewarding mission-driven nonprofit environment Responsibilities include: Prepare monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and board reports with analysis and insights Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, consolidations, grants, and revenue recognition Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and compliance with government contracts and grant requirements Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while maintaining strong internal controls and policies Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and reporting to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance Requirements: 5+ years of accounting leadership experience Grant management experience required CPA preferred Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
