Anticipated Part-Time Custodian- Second Shift

Hours of Position: 6:30p-11:30p, Monday-Friday

Qualifications: High school diploma or appropriate job experience. Custodial experience preferred. Ability to operate various types of custodial equipment.

Reports To: Coordinator of Buildings & Grounds

Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) month position, Level III position on hourly matrix, work schedule and other conditions of employment in accordance with the YSESPA Negotiated Agreement.

Job Description

Title: Custodian Level III – Second Shift

Hours of Position: 6:30 P.M. – 11:30 P.M., Monday – Friday

Goals: Plan, organize, maintain and provide a clean, safe, secure environment for all students, staff and stakeholders. Provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance of District owned buildings and grounds.

Essential Functions

1. Maintain cleanliness of all areas of the building including but not limited to hallways, common areas, classrooms, cafeteria, restrooms, and offices as assigned.

2. Maintain building grounds including but not limited to, snow removal, mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, mulching, and removal of landscaping as assigned.

3. Maintain the condition of building floors, including scrubbing and waxing as assigned.

4. Complete minor repairs as assigned.

5. Assist building staff before, during, and after student lunch period with respect to set-up and teardown.

6. Perform all other duties as assigned by Head Custodian.

7. Report for work as required during emergency situations (i.e. snow storms, fire alarms, etc.)

8. Follow all required safety procedures for the safe operation of the building, equipment, cleaning materials and chemicals, etc.

9. Perform tasks as assigned by Coordinator of Buildings & Grounds, Director of Facilities and/or Building Principal.

Position Specifications

Physical Demands: Constant climbing, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, grasping, hearing, talking and repetitive motions. Constantly alternating between sitting and standing Occasionally working above height of 10 feet Heavy to very heavy work requiring lifting of 60 pounds or more

Sensory Abilities: Visual and auditory acuity

Work Environment: Ability to work in outdoor environment where temperatures may be below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees Exposure to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as closeness to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, scaffolding or high places, high heat and chemicals Possible exposure to human waste and/or bodily fluids

Temperament: Ability to work as a member of a team Must be courteous, cooperative, and able to deal effectively with people Ability to work in various environments with frequent interruption Ability to make judgements and work under high levels of stress

Cognitive Ability: Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work independently and organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks Ability to exercise good judgement

Specific Skills: Must possess ability to operate custodial and grounds equipment Must possess ability to use hazardous chemicals while properly following safety guidelines Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality with school matters
