Job Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures in the cardiovascular operating room.*** 4 days per week; 6:00 AM 4:30 PM; on call weekend rotation may be 14 - 21 shift every 6 weeks **CVOR experience preferred; peds or vascular experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents or adults. Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Travels outside the OR suite to assist with placing adult & pediatric patients on ECMO or other mechanical assist device. First scrub adult & pediatric complex vascular and cardiovascular procedures including transplants. Demonstrates proper sterile technique during procedure. Handoff to other crew members. Demonstrates accuracy and appropriate handling, labeling, and hand off to nurse of all specimens and cultures according to MHS policy. Verifies name of specimen with Physician. Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients. Assists with appropriate instruments to physician during surgery. Assures accountability for proper counts of instruments and supplies during surgery. Maintains sterile fields to prevent site infections.
