Job Title

Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts | Onsite | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Step Down/PCU setting, managing a patient population that includes sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical cases (urology, abdominal, ortho)
• Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
• Perform telemetry interpretation; travelers will be required to pass telemetry competency tests
• Float within skillset as needed, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum 2-hour notice; mid-shift float within the same campus may also occur
• Adhere to every third weekend and every other holiday rotation requirement
• May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching facility environment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down/PCU experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Current active compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live more than 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, and continuous BiPAP management
• Blood product administration, stable home vent management, and neutropenic precautions
• Experience with stable drips such as Lasix and Protonix
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills; ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
