This role supports both internal and external customers by providing accurate parts identification, order processing, inventory coordination, and exceptional service. The position directly contributes to customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and overall parts department performance.Knowledge and Skill RequirementsStrong understanding of heavy equipment components, systems, and parts terminologyAbility to read parts diagrams, schematics, and technical documentationProficiency with inventory management systems and point of sale softwareStrong communication and customer service skillsAbility to multitask in a fast paced environmentPreferred Qualification(s)Prior experience in a dealership, equipment rental, or machinery service environmentFamiliarity with Caterpillar parts or similar OEM product linesExperience with counter sales or technical salesEducation RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical school training in diesel technology, mechanics, or related fields preferredEssential Job FunctionsAssist customers at the parts counter, by phone, and via digital channelsIdentify correct parts using catalogs, diagrams, and internal systemsProcess orders, returns, and special requests accuratelyMaintain parts displays, stock levels, and inventory organizationCoordinate with service technicians and internal departments to support repair operationsProvide pricing, availability, and lead time information to customersSupport warehouse functions such as pulling, staging, and shipping parts as neededLeadership ResponsibilitiesServe as a knowledgeable resource for customers and team membersUphold Coastal CAT's standards for professionalism, safety, and customer serviceAssist in mentoring new parts personnel when requestedPreferred Experience and Skills2+ years of experience in parts sales, equipment service, or related fieldsStrong problem solving and troubleshooting abilitiesFamiliarity with Caterpillar SIS or similar parts lookup systemsAbility to build strong customer relationshipsPhysical and Mental RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle parts of varying sizesExtended periods of standing at the counterStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectivelyWork EnvironmentPrimarily indoor parts counter and warehouse environmentFrequent interaction with customers, technicians, and vendorsExposure to noise, dust, and equipment typical of a machinery dealershipMost work is conducted in a comfortable office environment but exposure to site conditions may also occur. Personal protective equipment must be worn in areas as required. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, employees must be careful while performing onsite services.
