Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Richmond, Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: Cardiology Step Down Nurse in the Richmond, Virginia area. This role involves providing specialized care on a cardiac step down unit, supporting patients recovering from procedures such as CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, and other cardiac-related interventions. The position requires a skilled professional adept at cardiac monitoring and managing complex patient needs within a team-focused environment. Job Details: Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours, minimum of 36 hours per week Required Qualifications: Valid BLS and ACLS certifications, cardiac step down nursing experience, ability to read cardiac monitors, ability to administer narcotics, valid nursing license, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and must be located within commuting distance of the assignment site Preferred Qualifications: Experience in cardiac step down units, cardiac knowledge, competence with procedures such as cardioversion, pacemaker management, and use of cardiac drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, and nitro. Additional Information: Unit staffing includes 5 nurses and 1 patient care technician per shift, with patient ratios at 4:1, utilizing equipment such as central lines, PCA, Foley catheters, chest tubes, pacer wires, telemetry, and drains. Candidates must adhere to unit policies, including performing vital signs and assessments every 4 hours and rhythm interpretation. The position involves every other weekend work, with overtime opportunities available.
