Earth Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Special Inspector (Journey-person) to join our team! We have opportunities available across all 10 of our California offices. Diverse projects, meeting various clientele and working independently give our Construction Special Inspectors a high level of job satisfaction. As a Construction Special Inspector, you will be responsible for daily inspection of work quality, materials, and workmanship used on a variety of construction inspection projects, ensuring conformance with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents, maintaining records, and preparation of project engineering inspection reports. Qualifications: Graduate from an approved apprenticeship program for Building/Construction Inspector and Field Soils and Materials Tester required. ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Reinforced Concrete strongly preferred. ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Pre-stressed Concrete strongly preferred. ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Structural Masonry strongly preferred. ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Structural Steel and Bolting ICC Certified Special Inspectors for Fireproofing AWS CWI Certified Welding Inspectors strongly preferred. NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Prior experience working in a Geotechnical environment is a plus. Prior experience in construction materials testing or inspection required. Must be familiar with Microsoft programs. Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to "learn by doing." Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey findings and collaborate with team members. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. A good work ethic, attention to detail, and a high level of personal integrity. Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Other duties and responsibilities assigned as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Fieldwork and observation related to concrete and masonry construction operations. Sampling, field testing, and special inspection of concrete and masonry, as well as related components such as reinforcing steel, epoxy bolts and anchors, etc. Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance. Prepare detailed special inspection reports which include daily field reports and formal reports in accordance with Earth Systems’ report protocols and procedures. Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues. Demonstrate the company’s safety behaviors by following safety protocols and promoting a safety culture among team members. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Exact rate is dependent on several factors such as experience, skills, education/certifications, and geographic location. Employment conditioned upon the satisfactory completion of a post-offer background check, review of Motor Vehicle Records, drug screening, and a medical evaluation appropriate to the position.
