Fundamentally, systems engineers solve problems, often by combining traditionally disparate methods into new, creative solutions. The selectee will contribute to the design, development, implementation, integration, testing and delivery of multidisciplinary, cross-platform hardware and software solutions for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).Roles and ResponsibilitiesInteroperability engineering: Provide direct support to government program office in charge of linking sensors and weapons to provide Naval Integrated Fire Control capability to the fleet.Design, test, and deployment assessment: Analyze and assess design concepts, flight and ground test methods, and capability delivery considerations to create optimal solutions, and to identify and resolve issues with software design and tactical operations.Collaboration: Coordinate interdisciplinary solutions among government and contractor partners.Learn: Participate in technical conferences and partner technical interchange meetings to bring advanced technologies to NAVAIR.Basic QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or in physical sciences from a regionally-accredited college or university. Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of technical experience across varied fields, including the design and performance of sensors and weapons, tactical data links, and naval command and control.Security clearance: Active secret security clearance. Selectee must also have the ability to obtain a final DoD Top Secret security clearance within six months of start date. Preferred QualificationsEducation: Master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or in physical sciences from a regionally-accredited college or university.Fire Control Experience: Experience within the integration of platforms, sensors, and weapons across Navy kill chains.Skills: Ability to troubleshoot system-to-system relationships leading to unified solutions.Security Clearance: Active top secret security clearance.Work EnvironmentLocation: On-site; no remote work available.Travel Requirements: Moderate (10% to 25%) travel to government and contractor facilities, test sites, or technical meetings and conferences.Working Hours: Flexible. Standard government work hour support and surge support during integration and test phases.Compensation: $143,660.00 - $215,490.00. The salary range posted is for Maryland locations. The offered rate will be based on contract affordability, the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, and in consideration of internal parity.Additional Compensation:KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
