Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. The nurse will provide care in a high-acuity environment and engage with a diverse patient population. The unit sees an average of 3 births per day, totaling approximately 1545 births per year.

Unit Overview

This unit features:

• 7 Labor & Delivery beds
• 4 Triage beds with 2 overflow beds
• 27 Postpartum beds, including a 5-bed nursery

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• 2-3 years of nursing experience, with at least one prior travel contract preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Experience with fetal monitoring systems; familiarity with FetalLink and Cerner is advantageous

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Following AWOHNN guidelines regarding staff-to-patient ratios
• Caring for high-risk deliveries across all gestational ages
• Assisting with triages, and supporting patients with substance abuse and withdrawal issues
• Participating in floating between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units
• Providing care to grower/feeders in the NICU when required
• Circulating during C-sections as needed

Work Schedule

Shifts are 12 hours long, with the following schedule:

• Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Weekend shifts are required (4 in a 4-week schedule). Working holidays is also expected (one major holiday and one minor). Call is optional but preferred.

Orientation and Support

New hires will receive three shifts of floor-specific orientation. Each unit has a Charge Nurse and Resource Nurse available for support during shifts.

• Continuous RT services available 24/7
• Pharmacy support 24/7
