Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist responsible for performing all aspects of patient examination activities in nuclear medicine at a technical level. This role is crucial in producing high-quality images while adhering to established policies and procedures under general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Specializes in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
• Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence.
• Operates and maintains all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
• Performs diagnostic studies by measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specified body areas to obtain necessary images as requested by a physician.
• Identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications/substances as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner within the technologist’s scope of practice.
• Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self, while complying with regulatory standards and protocols.
• Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
• Ensures adequate supply of consumables to perform quality testing.
• Conducts routine maintenance and function checks on all imaging equipment following established protocols.
• May assist in other areas of radiology as needed.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Shift and Call Requirements

This position follows a schedule of Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. There is a call requirement every other week, with on-call hours extending from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM during the week, and from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine is required.
• Registration in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
