School Health AideAdminister all noontime medications, examine and treat any illnesses/injuries, and maintain records concerning student health information.Administers oral medications and maintains logs as instructed by the District Health ProviderPerforms head lice screenings and reports any students who have head lice to the nurse and principalProvides support to students who are diabetic by monitoring blood sugar levels, calculating insulin dosages for shots and giving shots as neededAssists the District Health Provider in making calls to parents/follows-up on any long-term absences due to illness, head lice, etc...Completes incident reports/logs and makes calls to parents reporting student illness or injuryExamines, treats and reports injuries that may occur when the District Health Provider is not in the buildingUpdates/maintains student health and immunization records including information for current students as well as for new students (and contacts former schools when needed)Conducts appropriate follow up activities to failed screenings (re-screening, parent follow-up (call/letter/email), teacher/principal notification)Assists with entering ALL annual health information from emergency forms and any screening results Vision/Hearing/Scoliosis) in the student information system and reports unique and life-threatening health situations to pertinent staffImplement student health service plans as directed by the District Health ProviderOther duties as assignedImplement hand washing and sanitizing protocols established by the District Health ProviderImplement COVID-19 screening protocols for staff, students, and visitors entering the building, if recommended by the District Health ProviderFollow protocols established by District Health Provider for the assessment and treatment of staff and students who exhibit common COVID-19 symptoms at schoolMaintains a well-groomed appearancePossesses a positive attitudeIs punctual and dependableDemonstrates an ability to make sound decisions independentlyMaintains professional behavior when dealing with students, staff, and parentsCooperates with all employeesShows tact and diplomacy when dealing with the publicCommunicates all legitimate concerns to the supervisorDemonstrates an ability to be fair and consistent when dealing with studentsMaintains a warm and inviting atmosphere in the officeCommunicates a positive image of the schoolSupports the school to other community membersMaintain CPR/First Aid Certification through Red CrossDiabetic & Insulin Administration TrainingCardiac Arrest & AED TrainingCOVID-19 PPE and Sanitizing trainingOther yearly trainings as assignedAs an employee of the Jonathan Alder Local Schools, you may have access to personal health records/information of certain students. To ensure that this information is used and disclosed in compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Regulation, you are required to read and sign this document. Restrictions on the Use and Disclosure of Health Information As a general rule, a person's health information may not be used or disclosed without proper permission (emergency card signature, written expressed permission, etc) The use of and disclosure of health information is subject to the restrictions in the HIPAA Privacy Regulation. Confidentiality in ALL school matters is important and individual rights to privacy must be protected. Penalties and Fines Penalties and fines can be imposed by HIPAA on anyone who improperly uses or discloses health information. In addition to these penalties and fines, any improper use or disclosure of health information may subject you to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
