Job Summary A Medical Billing Specialist opportunity is available in Sarasota, FL for an experienced billing professional with a strong background in accounts receivable, accounts payable, insurance verification, payment posting, and payer follow-up. The Medical Billing Specialist will support billing operations, help resolve payment and insurance-related questions, and contribute to timely cash flow and account accuracy. Key Responsibilities Verify insurance coverage and payer information to support accurate billing and claims processing. Post payments, cash receipts, and adjustments accurately in billing or accounting systems. Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including account review and reconciliation. Respond to phone inquiries from patients, payers, or internal team members regarding billing and payment questions. Research and help resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and outstanding account balances. Maintain organized records and support accurate documentation for billing, payment, and account activity. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $20 to $22 per hour. Job type: Temp-to-hire. Location: Sarasota, FL. Required Qualifications and Skills Support medical billing operations, including insurance verification and payer-related account review. Manage payment posting, cash posting, and account updates with accuracy. Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable activity. Handle phone inquiries related to billing, payments, and account status. 3 to 5 years of relevant medical billing, healthcare billing, or related administrative billing experience. Familiarity with accounts receivable and accounts payable processes. Experience with insurance verification and working with a variety of payers. Strong understanding of payment posting, cash posting, and billing documentation. Professional phone communication skills and the ability to respond to inquiries clearly and courteously. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced office environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience using medical billing, practice management, or accounting software. Prior experience in a healthcare revenue cycle, medical office, or billing office environment. Ability to research account issues independently and follow up through resolution.
