• Minimum of 1 year of MedSurg experience in a large hospital (600+ beds)

Description:

The position is for a Registered Nurse in a medical surgical unit. The nurse will manage a diverse patient population with various diagnoses. Common conditions include chronic illnesses such as COPD, diabetes, and heart failure. The nurse will also manage GI issues, infections, and neurological conditions. Patients may undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. The job involves general medical surgical nursing care. Required skills include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Nurses will utilize electronic health records and various medical equipment. Patient ratios are approximately 1:5-6. The position requires 12-hour shifts with three weekend shifts in four weeks. Nurses will float to other medical units as needed. Dress code is Caribbean Blue scrubs. Training includes a general hospital orientation and nursing orientation. EPIC charting is the system used for documentation. BLS certification and an Indiana license are mandatory for this position.
