Position Summary Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Program Specialist provides analytical, programmatic, advisory, operational, and conduct case support to programs in the Dean of Students' organization, comprised of the Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Student Conduct, and Student Legal Services . Key responsibilities include student staff supervision, event coordination, training development, and serving as Campus Hearing Coordinator for Office of Student Conduct. Executes certification and eligibility check processes, manages equipment, oversees primary case intake, manages operational logistics, conducts analyses, and creates reports in support of the Dean of Students Division. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications Writing skills with concise, clear syntax; prepare materials for public presentations, formal administrative reports, and other communications representing the organization, often under severe time constraints. (Required) Ability to present ideas and opinions in a clear, persuasive form. Ability to make presentations on various issues, both prepared and extemporaneously, to others. (Required) Work independently, organize work with attention to detail and accuracy; set priorities, assess timelines and coordinate assignments simultaneously under heavy, fluctuating workloads and conflicting deadlines. (Required) Provide records of meetings, ability to prepare concise, accurate summary of proceedings; reflect discussion context, contiguous issues, and divisional concerns. Facilitate group processes and meetings. (Required) Ability to conceptualize new projects in response to organizational objectives, and to generate detailed proposals and implement programs. Lead program planning and evaluation. (Required) Interpersonal skills to establish and develop collaborative working relationships and interact effectively, diplomatically, and cooperatively with others. (Required) Judgment and tact when managing highly sensitive and confidential situations. Maintain equanimity and decorum in face of resistance or hostility. Diplomatically handle difficult matters. (Required) Ability to analyze situations and/or information, identify problems, propose alternative solutions, and/or discern when action of higher level is needed. (Required) Degree from accredited 4-year institution; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Advanced degree in education, counseling, political science, or related field preferred. (Required) Ability to report to work on time and professionally attired. Occasional weekend hours required. (Required) Working knowledge of university policies, procedures, and systems, and Federal and state laws, specifically with regard to confidentiality of student records (e.g., FERPA). (Preferred) Ability to coordinate program development efforts with co-workers and work effectively with colleagues in completion of projects/programs. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required) Advanced degree in education, counseling, political science, or related field.
