Role Description

BVH has a need for an attorney to join its Chicago or Naperville office. Will also consider remote based on experience. Looking for 1-5+ years of insurance defense, coverage, or contracts (or other civil defense). Indiana and/or Wisconsin licensure is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in handling a diverse caseload including insurance defense covering auto, premises, construction, product liability, coverage matters, and civil rights defense. There are also opportunities for those with an interest in Workers' Compensation defense. The candidate should have exposure to all aspects of defending claims, including appearing in court, depositions, discovery, pre-trials and motions. The candidate must possess the ability to analyze and develop a strategy for the direction of a case in conjunction with the assigned partner and execute that game plan. Most importantly, the ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a desire to work toward autonomy and significant matter responsibility. This is an ideal position for a candidate who wants to hone and develop their skills in an environment that promotes growth and independence while also providing partner oversight and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Exposure to insurance defense
• Exposure to coverage law or a background in review and analysis of contracts
• Illinois law license is required; Wisconsin and Indiana Licensure is optional
• Law expertise with a strong understanding of litigation procedures and legal terminology
• Excellent legal research skills with the ability to analyze information and draw conclusions
• Effective negotiation skills with the ability to work towards settlements and alternative dispute resolutions
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Experience in representing clients in court and drafting legal documents
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize workloads
• Salary range is $90,000 - $140,000+ - Salary is commensurate with experience
