Endodontist

Diagnose and treat various conditions that affect the tooth pulp as well as the nerves and tissue in and around the tooth root. Perform non-surgical root canal treatments, endodontic surgery, and
apicoectomies.

• Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by th department, company and State and Federal agencies.
• Maintain proper, detailed and accurate dental records.
• Travels between clinics to work, as needed.
• Willingness to be on-call, as scheduled, by the Dental Director/Administrative Director (AD). Willingness to assist Clinic Manager/AD in supervising the dental staff and assuring that clinic is compliant with State and Federal guidelines.
• Meet productivity goals, as set by the Arkansas Children's Hospital organization and assist the AD, and work with dental staff to accomplish that goal.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, staff and administration.
• Perform other tasks, as directed by the Dental Director/AD, as needed to meet clinic or organization goals.
• Supervise Dental Assistants with whom he/she works.
• Understand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient care. Promote a patient-centered environment.
• Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns.
• Utilizing dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of patients' oral pain and discomfort.
• Formulating suitable treatment plans based on the diagnosed dental condition.
• Performing non-surgical root canal treatment to treat damaged or infected tooth pulp.
• Performing endodontic surgery to clean canals that contain calcium deposits, assist in making accurate diagnoses, and treat damaged root surfaces or surrounding bone.
• Performing apicoectomies to treat persistent inflammation or infection occurring in the bony area around the end of the tooth.
• Maintaining teeth that have previously undergone root canal procedures.
• Replanting teeth that have been knocked out of patients' mouths.
• Completing a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and progress notes on each patient.
• Examine and diagnose and treat dental conditions to provide optimum care to patients.
• Consult with the patient/parent/guardian and advise them of dental status and required treatment.
• Educate patients regarding oral conditions, provide treatment options and explain to the patient/parent/guardian the risks, benefits and alternatives of each option.
• Treat dental conditions for patients of all ages, and if unable to provide a particular service, to a patient, provide the patient with the appropriate specialty referral. Board certified/qualified Periodontists are exempted from treating adult patients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) and
  successful completion of a residency training program in endodontics approved by the
  Commission on Dental accreditation.

Certifications:

• PALS
• BLS
