Number of Vacancies 1 Area of Consideration Open To The Public Position Status Full-Time, Regular Pay Plan, Series & Grade DS0095/9 Salary Range $68,140 - $81,200 Closing Date Open Until Filled; Best consideration by 9/28/2026 Location 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 Brief Description of Duties The Case Manager will be a leader in the University’s efforts to strengthen student persistence and completion by increasing students’ awareness of and satisfaction with the availability and accessibility of resources and supports. The Case Manager develops and implements a case management system providing significant evaluation, intervention, education, outreach, and referral support to students of concern or in distress. The Case Manager collaborates extensively with partners on and off-campus to coordinate wrap‑around services that address issues including food insecurity, the experience of homelessness, psychological health, physical health, crime victimization, relationship violence issues, sexual assault, and social adjustment. The Case Manager Reports to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students. In addition, the Case Manager will oversee and manage the University’s Firebird Market food pantry, ensuring consistent access to food, hygiene products, and emergency resources for students. The coordinator will develop and maintain external partnerships with community organizations, nonprofits, food banks, and corporate sponsors to enhance the Firebird Market’s capacity to serve students. The role will also include creating, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive year‑long student leadership academy designed to strengthen leadership skills, personal development, and civic engagement for all UDC students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive case‑management program for students experiencing health, housing, food insecurity, transportation, childcare, and other basic‑needs concerns. Consults with students, assesses individual needs, coordinates appropriate interventions and referrals, and monitors student progress and follow‑up. Identifies emerging student needs and campus trends and adjusts outreach, services, and interventions accordingly. Collaborates with academic units, campus offices, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community providers to develop a coordinated network of culturally responsive and financially accessible student‑support resources. Develops and maintains an up‑to‑date database of University and community resources. Supports the Dean of Students in coordinating referrals, maintaining case records, developing action plans, facilitating follow‑up, and participating in BIT training. Coordinates student crisis and emergency response in consultation with the Dean of Students and develops related policies and procedures governing students of concern, crisis response, basic‑needs support, and BIT operations. Develops and delivers training, outreach, and educational initiatives that promote awareness of case‑management services, available resources, barriers to student success, appropriate referral practices, and help‑seeking behaviors. Oversees the daily operations, inventory, scheduling, and student‑support activities associated with the Firebird Market. Supports Firebird Market operations by coordinating campus and community partnerships, promoting student participation, maintaining resource availability, and communicating the program’s impact. Assesses office programs, BIT activities, community partnerships, and Firebird Market services; tracks utilization and outcomes; and prepares reports identifying trends, effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement. Supervises interns, practicum students, and other trainees performing case‑management work, ensuring that assignments are developmentally appropriate and consistent with ethical, legal, confidentiality, and higher‑education standards. Serves on University committees related to the position’s responsibilities and provides student support across UDC campus locations. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements Master’s Degree in Social Work, or Counseling from an accredited institution. Licensed Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Columbia or the ability to obtain license within six months of employment. Minimum three (3) years post‑graduate degree experience in a human/social services position directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Knowledge and skills in community‑based behavioral health care. Direct experience engaging and serving diverse communities and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience in crisis and case management in a human services context, including intake, needs assessment, screening, case documentation, and follow‑up. Preferred Qualifications In‑depth knowledge of and relationships with local and regional human services resources Experience working in case management of college students. Experience supervising student practicum, internship, and experiential training. Experience supervising employees in related work environment. Experience using Maxient. If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7‑year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
