Our Graduate Nurse Residency Program is designed to help new nurses successfully transition from the classroom to professional practice. Through structured support, mentorship, and hands-on experience, you'll build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in your nursing career.
$31.00 starting pay
$10,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment

Required qualifications:
Must have a valid New Mexico Nursing license (GN license is accepted), Compact Nursing License, or proof of scheduled NCLEX testing date
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school within past eleven (11) months
Must meet the requirements for obtaining and maintaining life support certifications as outlined in the Life Support Certification policy
Duties and responsibilities:
Must attend all scheduled monthly educational seminars and participate in data collection over a 12-month period
Will complete and present an Evidence Based Practice Project as a requirement for completing the residency program
Must successfully demonstrate continuous improvement in knowledge and practice as evidenced by staged orientation documentation and residency assessments
Uses the Nursing Process to provide and monitor patient response to therapeutic interventions
Provides individualized patient care appropriate for the area of practice
Must demonstrate understanding and application of competencies as required by area of practice
Accountable for professional nursing practice
Responsive to current safety and quality initiatives and sustains improvement
Collaborates with patients/families and peers in the provision of patient care
Adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations
Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
Other duties as assigned
Physical demands and environmental work conditions: Must be able to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently. Must be able to lift greater than 50 pounds and push 0-300 pounds frequently. Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids and meets OSHA training requirements
Special demands: Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or sometimes verbally or physically abusive patients and families in an attempt to ensure a safe, respectful environment that will support the delivery of care. Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families
