Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our privately owned dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office while providing exceptional care to our patients. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment. We are open to a full‑time or part‑time position. Responsibilities Assist dentists during various procedures, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for patients. Place resin fillings and temporary crowns. Prepare and maintain the dental operatory by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are readily available. Perform medical imaging and assist with diagnostic procedures as needed. Utilize four‑handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow and efficiency during treatments. Maintain accurate patient records using dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Educate patients on post‑operative care and general oral hygiene practices. Adhere to aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and compliance with health regulations. Assist in administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow. Requirements Previous experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant is required. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Must possess a valid radiology licence or be willing to obtain one upon hiring.
