Job Location: Kansas City District Office - 600 NE Colbern Rd., Lee's Summit, MO 64086 Why You'll Love This Position The communications specialist performs routine entry-level communications activities related to the development of department publications, website editorial content, and other information for internal and external audiences; helps coordinate special communications and outreach projects. Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision. MoDOT will bring candidates onto the team as entry-level, intermediate or senior level, based on your skills and experience. What You'll Do Prepares new releases regarding traffic impacts, department activities, and public relations events for dissemination. Assists with department events, special projects and campaigns. Supports internal stakeholders and departments with internal/external communication, newsletter and social media content. Coordinates public involvement opportunities based on assigned projects; collaborates with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and develops project-specific content. Develops website content, social media content, brochures, handouts, newsletters, and other publicity material; designs and publishes written materials. Writes feature stories for department publications. Creates and shares multi-media content, such as video updates, photos, and graphics related to construction projects and department activities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree: Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field, OR Four years of experience in communications related positions. Special Working Conditions Job requires occasional, statewide, travel.
