MEP Field Inspector, Construction Administration Direct Hire – Salary plus benefits Onsite Position Location: Houston, TX (Near I-10 & Beltway 8) Join a growing engineering and construction team where you’ll be the eyes and ears in the field. We’re looking for an MEP Field Inspector to support construction administration efforts across active project sites. This role is responsible for verifying installed work aligns with design intent, construction documents, quality standards, and applicable codes while serving as a trusted field representative throughout project execution. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on-site, solving problems in real time, building relationships with contractors and project teams, and taking ownership of project quality from construction through closeout. Frequent travel to local job sites is expected. Essential Duties and Functions Conduct field inspections and file reports assigned by Director of Field Services Work closely with Director of Field Services, Principals and Team Leads to ensure that each project meets organization standards according to specifications and drawings Ensure that all field reports are completed in a proper, timely manner Serve as liaison to organization clients and contractors during the construction administration process Create and maintain a master inspection schedule working closely with architects and contractors Review specifications, shop drawings, addendums and other construction documents Participate in career development training as assigned by supervisor or Human Resources Manager Other duties as assigned Required Skills and Knowledge Proven leadership skills Exceptional attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines Ability to work well on a team Exceptional written and verbal skills Knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of building codes Preferred Skills and Knowledge Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Science or related field Previous experience in an MEP construction or consulting environment, for schools Previous experience in field project management in an MEP consulting environment Ability to read construction documents, including MEP drawings and specifications Knowledge of building codes Knowledge in the construction of power distribution, power and lighting, data networks, telephone and intercom systems, fire alarm systems, security and access control systems, and other standard electrical systems Knowledge in the construction of HVAC systems, temperature controls, and other standard mechanical systems Knowledge in the construction of domestic water systems, hot water systems, storm water systems, sanitary waste and vent systems, acid waste systems, fire sprinkler systems, compressed air systems, gas distribution systems and fuel gas systems, and other standard plumbing systems Travel Frequent; to and from job sites, client meetings, and sister offices Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
