Associate Attorney - Family Law

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Family Law Practice Group in Sioux City, Iowa. Duties Represent clients in family law matters, including divorce and child custody. Provide legal counsel and strategic guidance to clients under Iowa law. Draft, review, and file legal documents such as petitions and motions. Represent clients in court, including hearings, trials, and mediations. Negotiate settlements and engage in mediation to resolve disputes. Manage a dynamic caseload with efficiency and precision. Conduct in-depth legal research to support cases. Collaborate with colleagues for a holistic approach to client representation. Engage in client development, community outreach, and networking. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active license (or ability to become licensed) to practice law in Iowa. 1+ years of experience practicing family law. Strong background in litigation, negotiation, and client advocacy. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism. Strong legal research and analytical abilities. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management tools. An established book of business or referral network is highly valued. Education Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications Active license to practice law in Iowa; Nebraska or South Dakota licensure is a bonus. Skills Strong legal research and analytical skills.
