Position: Blood Collection Technician
Location: Myrtle Beach SC
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
Estimated duration: 3 months with potential for permanent hire

Overview: The primary role of a blood collection technician is to aid in executing various assigned tasks, problem-solving, training, and providing workflow suggestions.
Responsibilities:
Experience with phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen centrifugation, maintenance data recording and decontamination, patient information updates, etc.
Gathers and preserves specimens following established protocols.
Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture (blood drawing) process or other specimen collections as needed. Demonstrates techniques with straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Comprehends all physicians’ orders thoroughly. Matches forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens based on test orders.
Cross-checks all test requisitions or computer labels to ensure accuracy. Prepares specimens for transportation.
Stores specimen samples at the required temperature, stores samples appropriately.
