Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg

Job Overview Location: M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. This Med/Surg RN will provide care to adult medical‑surgical patients requiring close observation, monitoring, and interventions. The role includes a varied patient population and a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Schedule This is a 0.75 FTE position (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length is 12 hours on the day shift with an every‑3rd weekend rotation (F, S, S) and a holiday rotation. Unit Information Unit has 24 beds. Care delivery: 4‑5 patient assignment on day, 5‑6 on night. Patient diagnoses include sepsis, overdoses/withdrawals, surgical procedures, telemetry, diabetes, pneumonia, altered mental status (AMS), and more. Key attributes: adaptability, willingness to learn, critical thinking, problem solving, flexibility, collaboration, patient‑centered care. Responsibilities Perform patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and outcome evaluation for all ages and populations. Prioritize, delegate, and maintain oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader. Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility. Establish and implement nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge. Conduct ongoing assessments as determined by patient condition and hospital policies, and re‑prioritize care accordingly. Demonstrate the ability to deliver care by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of the population served. Collaborate with patients, families, and health care team members.
