Healthcare Survey Researcher, Pharmaceutical Insights

Shape high-quality physician and patient research instruments for AI and healthcare research initiatives. This role combines rigorous survey methodology with pharmaceutical and therapeutic-area insight, beginning with studies in prostate cancer, ulcerative colitis, and migraine, with future work expected to include COPD and other indications.

• Design, review, and improve physician and patient survey instruments for pharmaceutical and healthcare research.
• Convert research objectives into clear, methodologically sound questionnaires.
• Assess screeners, respondent eligibility criteria, question wording, response scales, survey flow, branching and skip logic, and overall instrument structure.
• Identify leading, ambiguous, overly technical, or otherwise ineffective questions.
• Ensure instruments are appropriate for physicians, specialists, primary care physicians, patients, and other healthcare audiences.
• Evaluate survey length, respondent burden, question-order effects, recall requirements, and potential measurement bias.
• Determine whether questions are likely to produce reliable, interpretable, decision-useful data.
• Apply pharmaceutical and healthcare market-research conventions to survey design.
• Work with therapeutic-area specialists to ensure clinically accurate, appropriately framed questions.
• When qualified, independently assess both research methodology and therapeutic-area content.
• Provide clear written rationale and actionable recommendations for improving surveys.

• At least 3 years of professional experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, life-sciences, or medically focused research.
• Hands-on experience developing or fielding surveys involving physicians, patients, healthcare professionals, or other healthcare stakeholders.
• Strong expertise in questionnaire design and survey methodology.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical research and therapeutic areas is preferred; exceptional healthcare survey-methodology specialists are also encouraged to apply.
• Understanding of physician research considerations, including specialty screening, patient-volume qualification, treatment behavior, prescribing patterns, treatment pathways, and clinical terminology.
• Patient-research experience involving diagnosis history, treatment experience, symptoms, quality of life, adherence, or patient journeys is valuable.
• Experience in pharmaceutical market research, commercial insights, medical affairs research, or related life-sciences settings.
• Experience with Qualtrics, Decipher/Forsta, Alchemer, SurveyMonkey, or comparable tools is helpful but not required.
• Excellent written reasoning and the ability to deliver precise methodological feedback.

Relevant experience may include healthcare or pharmaceutical market research, healthcare consumer insights, primary market research, survey methodology, quantitative healthcare research, patient or physician research, behavioral science, healthcare consulting, medical communications, life-sciences insights and analytics, or patient experience and insights. Relevant titles include Healthcare Market Research Manager or Director, Pharmaceutical Market Researcher, Primary Market Research Manager, Consumer or Patient Insights Manager, Healthcare Insights Consultant, Survey Researcher or Methodologist, Quantitative Researcher, Research Director, Healthcare Research Consultant, Behavioral Scientist, Patient or HCP Insights Lead, Commercial Insights Manager or Director, and Medical Insights Researcher.

• Oncology, particularly prostate cancer.
• Gastroenterology, particularly ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
• Neurology, particularly migraine and headache disorders.
• Pulmonology or respiratory medicine, particularly COPD.
• Additional pharmaceutical therapeutic-area expertise is welcome as research expands to other indications.

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• Independent contractor role.
• Professionals able to evaluate both survey rigor and clinical assumptions, terminology, treatment pathways, and question relevance are especially well suited; survey-methodology specialists may work alongside a therapeutic-area expert.

$200 per hour.
