Job ID: 293512 Location: Augusta University – Health Sciences Campus, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912 Job Summary This role involves sterilization and processing of dental supplies and instruments. Responsibilities include inspection, sorting, disassembly/reassembly, manual and mechanical cleaning, biological processes, equipment operation, inventory control, and distribution. The position requires performing ADEX (CRDTS) exams, mock boards, and other specialty board certification exercises, including up to 4–6 weekend sessions per year. Acts as lead supervisory staff during the Central Sterilization Supervisor’s absence. Responsibilities Inventory Maintain daily inventory control of all instruments Generate inventory sheets for faculty, residents, and students Identify repairs; provide preventive maintenance Assist with periodic inventory of supplies and instruments Instruments Dispense and collect instruments to/from dispensaries and clinics Ensure proper instructions within each cassette Distribute instruments accurately and efficiently, including for board candidates Infection Control Operate sterilizers and conduct testing procedures (e.g., Bowie DICK, biological monitoring) Inventory Control Operate computer system/scanners for inventory control; create labels and barcode sheets Room Maintenance Maintain sterilization rooms and conduct scheduled cleaning of floors, counters, equipment, and daily work area Other Duties Perform additional duties assigned by the Central Sterilization and Instrument Control Manager or Director of Clinical Operations Required Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with knowledge of sterilization processes and two years of experience in a dental setting. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from a Dental Assistant Program and/or a Sterile Process Technician Program; or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge Dental instruments, equipment, and infection prevention procedures. Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software, task prioritization and deadline management, detailed teamwork orientation, and strong verbal and written communication. Abilities Maintain confidentiality, learn new software, apply sterilization and disease transmission principles, and ensure equipment safety. Shift, Salary & Benefits Shift: 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (shift differential) Pay Band: B4 – Minimum $17.02/hour, commensurate with qualifications Recruitment Period: Until Filled Benefits: Health, dental, and life insurance; Teacher’s Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays; tuition assistance for eligible full‑time employees after 6 months.
