This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, FP&A, Business Strategy, and other cross-functional teams to translate financial and operational data into clear insights that support both day-to-day execution and strategic decision-making. The role requires the ability to frame financial analyses into decision-focused narratives, including evaluating alternative scenarios, quantifying the financial risks, costs, and benefits of each option, and clearly articulating implications and trade-offs. This role will need to present technical analysis and findings in a manner that is easily understood across the organization. The position is ideal for an analyst with experience in the energy and/or finance industry who is comfortable working with data, building financial models, and presenting findings in a fast-paced environment. There is an expectation of high visibility and tactful communication of sensitive topics with organizational leadership.Key Responsibilities:Support P&L forecasting, performance reporting, and variance analysisAnalyze business drivers, trends, risks, and opportunities impacting EBITDADevelop and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for leadership and sales teamsTrack progress toward sales, margin, and operational targetsPartner cross-functionally to align financial results with operational activityAssist with budgeting, reforecasting, and special projects, including M&A or integration-related analytics as neededHelp improve reporting processes, data quality, and analytical tools through continuous improvement effortsBe able to develop new reporting models and enhance legacy modelsAd Hoc reporting, analysis, and other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or similar field.2–4 years of relevant financial, analytical, or related experienceExperience with AI and AI toolsStrong Excel skillset; experience with Power BI or other analytics tools is a plusAbility to synthesize large datasets into clear, concise insightsStrong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionallyPreferred Qualifications:Previous Energy industry experienceWorking Conditions:Houston office-based role, Hybrid work schedule, Monday-Thursday in a professional open office environment office; working remotely on FridayOvertime as business needs dictate, more often around key forecasting cycles and any special projectsMinimal travel expected, and not likely to exceed more than 10%NRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
