About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: AK RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Must have AK RN license for Auto Offer. - License must be obtained within 48 hours of signing. Description: The position is for a Progressive Care Unit RN. Candidates must have a valid AK RN license in hand for Auto Offer. First-time travelers are accepted. Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend based on staffing needs. The unit serves a wide variety of patient populations. The unit utilizes a Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model. Each patient has a bedside RN, a Virtual RN, and a CNA. Bedside RN to patient ratio is 1:4. CNA to patient ratio is 1:6. 30% of the patient population includes cardiac patients such as CHF, MI, and pacemaker patients. Additional respiratory patients include those with COVID, flu, COPD, and asthma exacerbations. The unit also handles overflow for neuro and renal patients. Complex medical surgical patients requiring higher levels of monitoring are also admitted. Experience with cardiac telemetry, blood product administration, and central line management is required. Candidates should be able to manage various procedures including trach care, PACU recovery, and epidural analgesia. Floating to lower acuity units may occur based on facility needs. All requests for time off must be included in the submittal process. Inflexibility with the schedule may result in contract termination. Two references covering one year within the last three years are required for compliance. Travelers may be expected to float to nearby facilities if necessary. Communication devices may be provided as needed for the role.
