Graphic Designer

Visit York County is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our marketing team. This full-time position plays an important role in Visit York County’s visual storytelling, digital communications, and marketing efforts, helping showcase York County, SC as a premier destination for visitors and locals alike. We’re looking for a talented designer who is ready to take ownership of day-to-day design projects across digital and print channels while contributing ideas that strengthen and evolve the Visit York County brand. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, a professional portfolio, previous design experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment. This is a full-time, in-person position based in our Rock Hill, SC office. The position includes a 90-day introductory/probationary period, during which performance, job responsibilities, and overall fit will be evaluated. Core Responsibilities Design visual content for Visit York County’s social media channels, website, blog, email newsletters, digital campaigns, and other marketing initiatives. Create engaging graphics and visual assets for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other digital channels. Craft, design, and input content for Visit York County’s weekly email newsletter using information provided by the marketing team and other departments, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, on-brand, and delivered on schedule. Maintain and strengthen brand consistency across digital and print materials. Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign concepts, creative direction, and execution. Design promotional and marketing materials including brochures, flyers, advertisements, signage, digital ads, presentations, and other collateral. Edit, resize, and optimize images and visual assets for various platforms and uses. Maintain and organize design files, templates, photography, and other digital assets. Assist with routine website content and visual updates using Visit York County’s content management system. Support the marketing team with occasional content capture at events, attractions, partner businesses, and other locations throughout York County. Coordinate multiple design requests and recurring projects while meeting established deadlines. Perform other marketing and communications duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications. Additional Opportunities This position will have opportunities to contribute beyond day-to-day graphic design responsibilities, including: Collaborating with departments including Sales, Events, and Visitor Services on campaigns and special projects. Contributing creative concepts for campaigns, seasonal promotions, social media, and brand initiatives. Participating in content capture at community events, festivals, attractions, and business openings. Contributing to a variety of destination marketing projects across digital, print, social, email, web, and other channels. Helping identify opportunities to strengthen and evolve Visit York County’s visual brand. Photography, social media filming, motion graphics, and video editing experience are a plus and may provide opportunities to contribute additional content to Visit York County’s digital channels. Qualifications, Education, & Experience Degree, certificate, or equivalent professional experience in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field. A professional portfolio demonstrating strong graphic design skills and experience creating visual content for digital and print applications is required. Previous professional, freelance, agency, or in-house graphic design experience is required. Skills Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Strong understanding of layout, typography, color, composition, and branding principles. Experience designing content for social media and digital platforms. Ability to write, edit, and proofread short-form marketing and email content. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and recurring deadlines. Ability to receive creative direction and feedback and translate it into effective visual work. Ability to collaborate effectively with team members while taking ownership of assigned projects. Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools is a plus. Photography experience is a plus. Social media filming and video editing experience is a plus. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar video editing software is a plus. Experience working with a CMS such as WordPress, Squarespace, or a similar platform is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of and enthusiasm for York County, SC, and an interest in visually telling the stories of the people, places, businesses, attractions, and experiences that make the destination unique. Position Details Full-time, permanent position 40 hours per week Salary range: $45,000-$48,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM. Some evenings and weekends may be required for event support and occasional content capture. Position is based in person at Visit York County’s Rock Hill, SC office. Must reside in or near York County, SC, and have reliable transportation. The position includes a 90-day introductory/probationary period, with a performance review conducted near the conclusion of that period. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required. Work primarily takes place in an office setting, with occasional off-site work at local businesses, attractions, events, and other locations throughout York County.
