Area Manager

Job Summary Area Manager – Responsible for selling beverage products to retail food stores, wholesale grocers, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses by traveling through assigned territory, soliciting orders, negotiating contracts, and developing marketing plans for contract accounts. Responsibilities Travel assigned territory to call regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and new business. Prepare sales contracts, coordinate closing of sales, and develop marketing plans for contract accounts. Operate route vehicle safely, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and ensure safe delivery of products. Coordinate and lead sales meetings, prepare agendas and presentations. Maintain product rotation using first‑in, first‑out basis per supplier requirements. Build and maintain professional customer rapport through effective selling approaches. Account for all cash/credit proceeds, product transfers, signage, and company assets. Conduct business reviews, demonstrate products and services, and highlight product benefits to customers. Arrange products per approved plans or manager’s suggestions. Place price and descriptive signs on displays and fixtures. Manage product transfers between customer stock rooms and floor displays, ensuring compliance with Sell‑By dates. Order product to prevent out‑of‑stock conditions following established procedures. Create display ideas, assemble displays using POS materials, and manage empty shell pickups. Estimate and coordinate product delivery schedules. Prepare transaction reports and maintain expense accounts. Wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Supervisory Responsibilities Interview, hire, and train employees. Plan, assign, and direct work. Appraise performance, reward, and discipline employees. Address complaints and resolve problems. Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college/technical school, or 2–4 years relevant experience. Knowledge of sales/marketing concepts in the brewing industry. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with delivery & sales responsibilities and territory management. Demonstrated leadership and strong work ethic. Must meet company driver qualifications. Skills and Competencies Communication: read, analyze, and interpret business literature; write reports and present information. Mathematical: calculate discounts, commissions, percentages. Reasoning: solve practical problems with limited standardization. Physical Demands Requirement to use hands frequently, lift up to 25 lbs unassisted and occasionally up to 60 lbs. Regular walking, standing, and seating. Vision required: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work Environment Occasional exposure to outdoor weather. Typically conducted in a noisy environment.
