We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Manager to provide leadership and oversight for our oncology clinical team. This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, supporting clinical staff development, and maintaining efficient, high-quality clinical operations. Job Description Summary Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall clinical care and functions. Oversees the activities of the clinical areas and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the clinical team that includes nurses, medical assistants (if applicable), lab (if applicable) and pharmacy technician(s). Assesses, monitors, and educates all clinical staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Assures compliance with all job breakdown instructions (JBIs) and regulations within the assigned areas. Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of the role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Primary Key Performance Areas KPA 1 – Clinical Knowledge Maintains knowledge of oncology nursing and clinical operations. Acts as a provider liaison and works with the Office Manager to ensure patient safety, continuity of care and smooth office flow. Communicates with outside entities to assure quality and continuity of patient care. Supports and maintains knowledge of clinical trials and ECOG. Communicates with the research department and Research Coordinator to share all relevant patient information, as applicable. Oversees special procedures and chemotherapy treatments within the office. Oversees completion of DME, insurance forms, FMLA and disability application forms. Responsible for completion of incident reports and adverse event reports. Ensures completion of daily variance report and resolution of unsigned charges. Coordinates with purchasing department to maintain appropriate PAR levels. Collaborates with ancillary departments to ensure required annual tasks/education are completed and timely. Proficient with drug preparation, including hazardous and non‑hazardous drugs, drug ordering and pharmacy cleaning procedures. Maintains knowledge of Nucleus medication dispensing system. Oversees ordering of medical and pharmaceutical supplies. Coordinates with Office Manager for 24‑hour coverage for drug refrigeration temperature monitoring and response. Attends and participates in monthly CNM meetings. Collaborates with the R‑DON for nursing concerns, education, etc. Works with Occupational Health to ensure N95 mask testing is done yearly. KPA 2 – Leadership Trains team members to provide quality services to oncology and hematology patients. Manages daily direction and communication to employees to perform tasks timely, efficiently, and knowledgeably. Creates and maintains a positive, high‑quality work environment. Manages schedule for clinic nurses, medical assistants (if applicable), lab (if applicable) and pharmacy technician(s) ensuring adequate coverage for increased patient schedules or staff time off. Coordinates and facilitates nurse staff meetings regularly. Participates in hiring process, interviewing applicants, and assists in hiring decisions with the HR recruiter for open positions. Oversees orientation of new staff in collaboration with trainers. Ensures employees receive appropriate training and resources. Provides and manages performance evaluation for 90‑day and annual reviews. Delivers regular performance feedback and coaching. Maintains documentation for disciplinary actions. Reviews and approves time‑off requests fairly while ensuring adequate staffing. Submits timesheets to payroll for all direct reports. Conducts monthly departmental staff meetings to communicate issues or updates. KPA 3 – Education and SOPs Distributes available resources to staff for educational purposes. Assists in creation and review of clinical activities and operations. Directs staff to teach patient education classes or individual sessions. Manages patient education material packet assembly. Monitors and directs nursing team to follow JBIs. Maintains oncology nurse certification. KPA 4 – Compliance and SOPs Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Ensures adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertakes disciplinary actions when necessary. KPA 5 – Communication and Customer Service Communicates all clinical policy, procedure, and regulatory changes applicable to the clinical teams. Acts as a resource for staff regarding company policies and procedures. Stays current on oncology updates, therapies, and procedures and shares updates with staff. Maintains positive working relationships with other employees to foster a cooperative and harmonious environment that maximizes employee morale, productivity, and effectiveness. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Position Qualifications / Requirements Education: Unencumbered RN License in the state of employment or multi‑state licensure. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required. Certifications / Licenses: Registered Nurse license. Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) required. Current CPR certification. Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required. Previous Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the healthcare field in a clinic or hospital setting. Three (3) years of management experience preferred. Must be detail‑oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness. Ability to handle sensitive, confidential, and emotionally charged material. Communication Skills: Good command of English. Second language is an asset but not required. Effective oral, written, presentation, and feedback communication. Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus and ability to build a culture of quality, performance, and operational excellence through collaboration and partnerships. Self‑Management: Manages own time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development. Self‑motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision. Works effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment, juggling competing priorities and stakeholder demands. Leadership & Mentoring: Leads and facilitates group discussions, coaches, mentors, motivates, and engages others. Leads projects from inception through implementation and assessment. Human Resources Management: Hires, coaches, supports staff development, manages resources, performance, and employee relations, and supervises within established policies and legislation. Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Travel: Standard Core Workdays / Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
