Primary Responsibilities Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedules Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking Providing a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion content Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student work Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty member Maintaining accurate academic records Performing other related duties as assigned Qualifications Terminal degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition Extensive experience in higher education, plus a Master's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition A minimum of three years of teaching English/Literature/Comparative Literature or Composition in a post-secondary setting Experience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environment Successful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists. Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technology Currency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional field Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning Active scholarship in related field Position Information The pay range for this position is $45.00/hour - $60.00/hour. For administrative and tasks assigned or approved outside of classroom teaching hours will be paid at a standard hourly rate of $35. This position is subject to a background check upon a conditional offer of employment and a reference check. This is an in-person role.
