Medical Assistant/ReceptionistBear Lake Memorial Hospital is seeking a receptionist/clinic assistant to support all providers and services at the BLMH Bear Lake Clinic in Garden City, Utah. Under immediate supervision, this position is responsible for checking patients in and out, managing appointments, and assisting clinical staff with patient care tasks.Essential duties include but are not limited to:Assists with providing patient care: records vital signs; discusses and records chief health concerns; performs tests; administers injections; assists with procedures.Places phone calls to pharmacies to order prescriptions; sets-up patient referrals.Completes prior authorizations as required for procedures, diagnostic testing, etc.Pulls and prepares patient charts; scans patient records; performs other general office duties as required.Maintains neatness of work area; stocks patient rooms with supplies.Provides care to patients of all ages.Registers patients upon arrival for Urgent Care and all other clinic providers and services; assists patients as needed.Assist the clinical and professional staff as needed with patients.Ability to discern urgent/emergent needs of patients.Manages incoming and outgoing telephone calls, takes messages from patients, and relays information to providers or other staff.Schedule and confirm patient appointments.Process patient payments.Ensure controlled substance scripts are handled appropriately.Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristicsKnowledge of medical terminology.Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and staff in a caring, positive, and professional manner.Ability to organize and coordinate schedules, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks.Professional telephone etiquette and effective communication skills.Ability to operate a computer, including basic keyboarding skills.High ethical and integrity standards.Excellent customer service skills.Adherence to confidentiality and privacy requirements.Ability to file and retrieve information.Willingness to adhere to established departmental service standards.Ability to sit for extended periods and to stand, lift, carry materials or equipment, bend, and twist as required.Must be able to complete essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.Must contribute to the culture and mission of the most caring hospital.Requirements:Appropriate license and/or certification from the State of Utah.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.Consistently works cooperatively with patients, staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.Consistently supports compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting noncompliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Bear Lake Memorial's policies and procedures.Excellent service and communication skills when interacting with employees, patients, and visitors.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Good organizational skills.Expiration: Applications will be accepted until filled.Bear Lake Memorial Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer and all applicants will be given fair consideration based on their academic credentials and applicable work experience.
