Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and administering Human Resources operations across Outdoor Adventures, Inc., Venture Out Resorts, and Ocean Canyon Resorts. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting employees and managers across multiple states and locations.

The HR Manager will oversee employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, recruiting and onboarding, performance management, leave administration, workers' compensation, HR systems and reporting, while serving as a primary resource to company leadership and managers on employee-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day HR operations and provide guidance to managers and employees across all three companies and multiple states.
• Manage employee relations matters, including coaching, disciplinary actions, investigations, performance concerns, separations, and other workplace issues
• Administer employee benefits, including annual open enrollment, employee communications, eligibility and enrollment changes, COBRA administration, and coordination with insurance brokers and benefit providers.
• Coordinate annual benefit renewals and ensure payroll deductions and benefit elections are implemented accurately.
• Administer FMLA, parental leave, disability/accommodation processes, and other applicable employee leave programs.
• Coordinate workers' compensation and employee injury reporting, including communication with carriers, managers, payroll, and finance.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements across the organization's operating states, including labor-law postings, unemployment matters, required reporting, and establishment of employer accounts when entering new states.
• Maintain and periodically update employee handbooks, HR policies, paid holiday schedules, PTO policies, and related employee documents.
• Administer HR functions within Paycor, including employee records, forms and acknowledgments, performance management documents, PTO policies, announcements, reporting, and other system administration.
• Oversee recruiting and hiring processes, including job requisitions, job postings, recruiting expenditures, offer letters, onboarding, and maintenance of open-position reporting.
• Partner with department leaders on annual performance-management goals and maintain performance review documentation and processes.
• Coordinate annual 401(k) and workers' compensation audits and process employee retirement-plan distribution requests and related documentation.
• Prepare recurring workforce and payroll reports for senior leadership and provide HR metrics and analysis as requested.
• Partner with Payroll and Finance on HR-related deductions, benefits, audits, employee changes, and other payroll matters.
• Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, employee recognition programs, employee surveys, referral bonuses, and other culture-building activities.
• Administer the seasonal Work Camper program, including annual renewals, recruiting, contracts, and coordination with Resort Operations and Member Services.
• Support leadership-development initiatives, including the Continuous Improvement Cohort and other employee development programs.
• Maintain relationships with HR vendors, benefit providers, insurance carriers, retirement-plan administrators, and other external partners.
• Maintain HR systems and ensure appropriate access, documentation, records retention, and confidentiality.
• Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience.
• 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience independently managing core HR functions.
• Prior HR management or HR generalist leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and experience supporting a multi-state workforce.
• Demonstrated experience with employee relations, investigations, performance management, leave administration, benefits, workers' compensation, and HR compliance.
• Experience administering HRIS/payroll platforms; Paycor experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, recurring compliance responsibilities, and competing priorities with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the judgment and discretion necessary to handle confidential employee matters.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
