Oncology/Surgical ICU Team Lead Charge Nurse

Overview Oncology/Surgical ICU Team Lead/Charge Nurse at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. The unit is an oncology‑designated 25‑bed Intensive Care Unit providing care to critically ill patients with oncology, bone marrow transplant, and surgical diagnoses. Role Purpose Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift; provides direct patient care as needed and serves as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff; assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as required. Compensation & Shift Up to $15,000 Sign On Bonus for eligible external candidates Three 12‑hour shifts: 7:00 pm‑7:30 am Shift differentials for nights, weekends, and holidays BSN differential Responsibilities Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into ambulatory care settings. Leads development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with interprofessional team, patient, family or caregiver. Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices, including participation in journal club and practice change initiatives. Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers and leadership to enhance patient safety. Leads evaluation of patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve satisfaction and quality. Maintains constant state of alertness and works safely as a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing. Experience: 2–5 years nursing experience. Supervisor Experience: None required. Licenses & Certifications: RN license. Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 5–10 years of experience.
