The Role BGC is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical or Geological Engineer with experience in tailings management and tailings dam site investigation, design, analysis or construction support. They will work in a multidisciplinary team, leading tasks related to earth dam design and construction. The ideal candidate will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Engineering firm, while practicing our values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity. This position can be based at one of our Canadian locations listed above. Responsibilities Act as a project engineer and technical lead under the direction of the Engineer of Record for tailings projects Train, mentor, and supervise technical work of Junior staff Manage projects, prepare proposals, and track budgets Author or co-author reports Organize and supervise field programs, including site investigation, construction, dam safety inspections Work with client representatives Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff Travel as required, which could include extended shifts at remote sites Required Education, Experience & Competencies 5–15 years relevant work experience Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering Post‑graduate degree is an asset Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer Experience in tailings management Experience in tailings dam site investigation, design, or construction support Position Requirements Drug & Alcohol Testing: BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that may require testing prior to engaging in field work. Driver’s License: Employees must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a field pickup truck. An abstract will be required upon hiring. Travel and Vaccination: Employees may be required to receive vaccinations such as yellow fever, COVID‑19, malaria, etc., and to hold a current passport. COVID‑19 Vaccination: BGC’s COVID‑19 vaccination policy is currently suspended. If the policy resumes, vaccination records will be required.
