Physiatrist - Consults

Physiatrist – Consults Provide professional medical services in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to patients at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer and supports the mission to restore hope and freedom through rehabilitation. Responsibilities Provide clinical services in inpatient, outpatient, clinic, and timely consultations at referring hospitals and facilities. Perform invasive procedures within the scope of physiatry when adequate credentials and guidelines are established. Maintain accurate medical records and cooperate with billing, peer review, and compliance programs. Provide oversight and education for students, residents, and mid‑level providers. Maintain staff privileges and complete duties required to preserve those privileges. Identify and promote opportunities to improve care, participate in quality initiatives, and monitor developments in specialty field. Provide medical leadership to treatment teams for assigned patients to promote effective team functioning. Model professional behavior and enhance knowledge and understanding of MFB services through professional education, discharge planning conferences, participation in ICU and other rehab teams, community outreach, and programming. Promote the financial viability of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital. Promote the development and dissemination of new knowledge, preferably through peer reviewed journals. Demonstrate excellent customer service, encourage coaching, and monitor standards of behavior. Contribute to quality improvement by identifying problems and seeking solutions, promoting patient/family satisfaction. Qualifications M.D. or D.O. degree. Board certified or board‑eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. State of Michigan Medical License. Current BLS Certification (preferred). Preferred Qualifications Experience developing new treatment programs and paradigms. Experience in medical rehabilitation of seriously ill patients. Published research in peer‑reviewed journals. Age‑Specific Requirements Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients in the assigned department, understanding principles of growth and development over the life span and interpreting data to identify patient requirements relative to age‑specific needs.
