School-Based Occupational Therapist

Comprehensive Therapy Consultants (CTC) partners with public school districts to deliver high-quality, student-centered therapy services. We support our clinicians with training, mentorship, streamlined administrative systems, and a collaborative community of pediatric therapists.

Position Overview

CTC is seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to work within Sarasota County Public Schools. As a school-based OT, you will serve students from early childhood through grade 12 (and up to age 21 where applicable), providing direct and consultative occupational therapy services to help them access their educational program.

You will collaborate closely with teachers, allied service providers, families, and school staff to identify and overcome functional barriers that affect students' participation, independence, and success in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments, screenings, and re-evaluations in domains such as fine motor coordination, visual motor/perceptual skills, sensory processing, writing readiness, self-care/adaptive skills, and executive functioning, with emphasis on educational relevance.
• Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy intervention plans aligned with IEP goals, focusing on students' functional performance within the school setting (e.g. classroom tasks, transitions, playground, self-care)
• Provide direct services (individual, small group, or classroom-based), as well as indirect consultative support to teachers, paraprofessionals, and related staff (modeling strategies, environmental modifications, assistive technology, adaptation)
• Collaborate with IEP/504 teams, attend meetings, contribute to goal writing, monitor progress, and revise interventions accordingly
• Provide training/in-service for school staff, families, and caregivers on strategies, accommodations, and assistive technology to support students' functional performance
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, plans, progress data, IEP reports, and other required records in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines
• Participate in district-wide professional development, collaborative planning, and peer consultation
• Travel among school sites in Sarasota County as needed

Qualifications / Requirements

• Master's or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an OT in the State of Florida
• Strong understanding of school-based practice and IDEA/Section 504 requirements
• Experience or strong interest in pediatrics, developmental and educational applications of OT
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task, manage caseloads across multiple schools, and adapt to varied environments
• Proficient in documentation, data analysis, and use of assistive technology tools
