PRN Patient Care Specialist, Hancock County/Sneedville TN, United States Job Description The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice, invites applications for a PRN Patient Care Specialist for our Hancock County (Sneedville) school-based clinics. The Patient Care Specialist supports clinical operations in a healthcare setting by assisting nurses with direct patient care. Key responsibilities include administering injections, performing EKGs, collecting specimens, assisting with procedures and examinations, and completing various non-professional nursing and clerical tasks. This role requires a solid understanding of basic nursing principles and practices. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems to perform daily clinical and administrative tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, supervisors, and coworkers. Professional telephone communication skills, including coordination with pharmacies, healthcare providers, and community agencies. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate patient needs to clinical providers. Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information responsibly in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Thorough understanding of and adherence to university, college, department and clinic policies and procedures. Professional demeanor and ability to represent the facility positively at all times. Effective team player with a collaborative mindset. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations. Strong organizational and time management skills to complete assigned duties efficiently. Knowledge of accepted nursing and clinical medical assistant (CMA) standards and practices. Familiarity with medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and the foundational principles of nursing. Basic computer literacy to support clinical operations. Skilled in delivering patient care in alignment with facility standards, protocols, and procedures. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. RMA, CMA (AAMA certification) or LPN. Current CPR/BLS card required.
